SUMMARY:Long Way Around
DESCRIPTION:## Location\nBased in Taupo\, with the overnight stay at a priv
 ate lodge in National Park. The route goes the long way around Lake Taupo 
 and beyond\, including private farmland and forestry roads and tracks.\n\n
 ## The ride\nGPS navigated adventure ride of approximately 700 km over 2 d
 ays.\n\nMain route includes winding back country roads\, gravel roads\, an
 d reasonably well formed off-road tracks through farms and forestry.\n\nOp
 tional challenge sections are available for competent off-road riders on e
 nduro style bikes.\n\nSuitable for road registered dual purpose motorcycle
 s\, from 250s to 1200s.\n\n## Terrain and conditions\nDepending on the wea
 ther\, riders may encounter short steeper inclines and declines\, rutted a
 reas\, slippery or muddy terrain\, and stream crossings.\n\nChallenge sect
 ions may be more difficult if wet. Adventure tyres are recommended.\n\n## 
 Navigation and support\nRiders must navigate using GPS\; roll charts are n
 o longer used.\n\nGroups riding together are advised to have at least two 
 riders with GPS. At least one rider in each group should be competent usin
 g GPS navigation.\n\nMoto Mapped staff riders will be on route to guide an
 d assist where needed.\n\nGuides\, sweep crew\, support vehicle\, GPS coor
 dinates\, and land access fees are included. The Moto Mapped van will be a
 vailable to carry bags not wanted on the bike.\n\n## Registration and sche
 dule\nFriday 6 November: registration from 18:00 onwards\, with briefing a
 t 20:00 at The Fox and Hounds in Taupo. Riders must sign on and collect ri
 de packs\, stickers\, and event tees. Riders need to organise their own Ta
 upo accommodation for Friday night.\n\nSaturday: ride day 1\, then overnig
 ht at a private lodge in National Park.\n\nSunday: ride day 2\, returning 
 to Taupo in the afternoon.\n\n## Fees\n- Registration fee: $530\n- Include
 s Friday night registration and briefing\n- Includes 2 days of riding\n- I
 ncludes hot buffet dinner Saturday evening\n- Includes shared accommodatio
