About this Ride
Location
Starts from Taupo, Waikato. Saturday night accommodation is at a private lodge in National Park. Riders return to Taupo on Sunday afternoon.
The ride
GPS-navigated adventure ride of approximately 700 km over 2 days, taking the long way around Lake Taupo and beyond.
The route includes winding back country roads, gravel roads, and reasonably well formed off-road tracks through farms and forestry, including access onto private farmland and forestry roads and tracks.
Optional challenge sections are available for competent off-road riders on enduro-style bikes. These may include steeper tracks, slippery or muddy terrain, rutted areas, stream crossings, and short steeper inclines and declines. Conditions are more challenging if wet.
Suitable for road-registered dual purpose motorcycles from 250cc to 1200cc. Adventure tyres are recommended.
Navigation
Riders must navigate using GPS. Roll charts are not used.
Groups riding together are advised to have at least two riders with GPS. At least one rider in each group should be competent using GPS navigation.
Moto Mapped staff riders will be on route to guide and assist where needed.
Registration and schedule
Friday 6 November: registration from 18:00 onwards, with briefing at 20:00, at The Fox and Hounds in Taupo. All riders must sign on and collect ride packs, stickers, and event tees. Riders need to arrange their own accommodation in Taupo for Friday night.
Saturday: ride day 1, then overnight at a private lodge in National Park.
Sunday: ride day 2, returning to Taupo in the afternoon.
The Moto Mapped van will be available to carry bags that riders do not wish to take on the bike.

Facilities
Fuel stops and cafes along the route have been alerted and will be stocked with food and coffee.
